2011 Scholarship Winners

The Keuka Lake Association is pleased to announce that Kristen Anderson, Matthew Dean and Tesia Moore have been selected as the recipients of the Esther N. Wahlig Keuka Lake Watershed scholarship award. 

The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who show an interest in the preservation of the aquatic environment and wish to pursue a career in watershed management and/or marine/freshwater biology. 

Kristen Anderson (Penn Yan Academy, Class of 2011) – Kristen has always had an interest in the environment. She plans on getting both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Plant Science and the pursuing a career in in environmental science with a focus in plant research. She is attending SUNY at Cobleskill.

Matthew Dean (Penn Yan Academy Class of 2011) – Matt has always “loved animals, nature and anything that has to do with being outside”. Matt is attending Paul Smith College in the Adirondacks. His goal is to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation an becoming a NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Officer.

Tesia Moore (Penn Yan Academy Class of 2011) – Tesia has always been interested in the environment and how humans impact it, thus resulting in global warming. Tesia is attending SUNY at Stonybrook, majoring in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. She also plans to study abroad and secure an internship in the environmental field.
